Mens Army Overcoat is one of the classic and flattering staple wear in mens fashion. They are one of the best garments when it comes to winter wardrobe. For men who are satorially inclined they may even have collection of mens overcoats that decorate their wardrobe. Mens army Overcoats are basically heavy garments that are ankle to thigh length designed with fur collar and lapels. It complements the wearers silhouette by widening the shoulders, lengthening the body and draping over any problematic areas. Mens army coats are outerwear and worn so that the wearer can stay safe from the cold and other adverse weather elements. Due to this functionality they are usually made of thick fabrics like wool and fur that has good insulating properties that keep the wearer warm even under chilling temperatures. There are luxury fabrics like Cashmere that are greatly sought after and also expensive.
Most menswear derive their basic structure from the military styles. This is also the same for the mens army overcoats. While the outerwear like drapes and capes were worn by men for a long time and have evolved over the time. Around the time of the start of the First World War the satorial styles from different parts of the world started spreading all over the world. The country which was winning at the time formed the role model of the clothing style at the time. The greatest influence was each countrys armies that made the farthest impact. People were obsessed with imitating the sharp styles which formed the basis for all the styles that we have of now. At the end of the World War times the French and Russian army styles carried on till the end.
After the end of the war the soldiers returned to civilian life but still held on to the military styles. By now the tailors were well versed with the army styles and were obviously happy to oblige with the orders. This soon spread to non military people too and thus became a popular style. Even before the war times the navy and the army adopted the mens army overcoat styles for a long time. Single breasted mens overcoats were used by armies but the double breasted overcoats were the staples in the navies and the even in armies of countries like Russia since they were colder.
Only after this the waterproof fabric was introduced and they were first only issued for the highest rank of army soldiers. After this these mens army coats became industrialised and soon the all the army soldiers in the trenches had this overcoat since the small details like the epaulettes and the D rings greatly aided in the battle. Also they were designed so that they can be bundled and was also used as a pillow while in field.
There are many styles of mens coats that derive their style inspiration from the military style. Even now these styles are greatly preferred by the people who loves classic styles. Greatcoat is one famous classic style that has wide collars and lapels. They are double breasted and made of thick fabrics that fight off the cold. The styles has been used in literatures and films that gives a romantic feel to it. Also when wearing these styles with their collars turned up and with hands in pockets it has a dramatic look to it.
