If you love your western movies then the dresses they wear will be an obvious object of interest for you. Starting from the cowboy hats to the boots they have an unique style of clothing which is cool and at the same time traditional. The western wear have been an important part of the western culture for a long time. While the style have changed a little most part of it remains the same. Hollywood has been a major fan of this western wear thus in turn gaining a large fan following in the process. From hats to jackets, western overcoats, shirts and boots everything has their own place in history and also in todays world. This style is especially popular among the children who still dream to be a cowboy overcoat when they grow up.
As for western overcoats the western style ones are still greatly popular due to their rugged and cool style. Western Overcoats are basically outerwear that are long and worn to protect the wearer and his outfit from adverse weather conditions. Nowadays they are mostly made of heavy fabrics which wool car coat and fur so that they can fight off the cold.
In western style the overcoats had a great role to play. These western overcoats were one of the most important garments when it comes to being a cowboy. As we all know being a cowboy entails a lot of riding and being on horseback. Western Overcoats were the outerwear that they wore to save their outfits from the dust and dirt that comes with riding. One of the most famous style of western style overcoats is the duster western overcoat. They were long and almost reached the toes of the wearer. These unlike the recent versions are made of lighter fabrics like canvas or linen. These were mostly riding clothes and there were separate ones that they wore in the winter which were made of heavier fabrics. As for the duster western overcoats they were lightweight and of loose fitting. They also had long slits in the back which usually extended up to the hip portion. This helped the wearer to easily mount and unmount the horse and also provided freedom of the legs while riding.
These were first made so that they can to some extent keep the riders clothes away from the dust. They sometimes tend to ride in groups and this only increased the dust storm. Later these western overcoats were improved to be made in oilskin and other fabrics that to a certain extent were waterproof thus helping the rider while raining. This style soon carried on with time and was the major one worn by both men and women at the time of invention of automobiles. At the start of this era the automobiles were mostly open that is without roof and even still without windows or doors. This meant that they did nothing to save the driver and the passenger from the dust and other adverse weather conditions like cold, rain or wind. Soon with the introduction of closed automobiles the style vanished fast, with bikers leaning more towards the hooded coat ones like jackets which allows them better flexibility.
Now if you are fixed on buying a western style overcoat or a jacket then you have a lot of options to choose from. There are styles for all starting from the linedancers to the historical imitators. Most of these original styles are slightly modified with incorporating elaborate embroidery or some fancy details making them relevant to the present time. Some of the oldest style that you can still rock with a little boost of confidence are frock western overcoats, ponchos, Mexican jackets with silver embroidery and fringe jackets. These are the styles preferred by the die hard fans of the 80s rock music and heavy metal bands. These styles may not be relevant if you wear them with your office outfits or other styles. You will have to have a event or a rock band concert or better yet living in Texas so that you will not feel out of place. But there are some styles that are subtle but has a strong sense of western style like the duster western coats, leather coat vests and some styles of jackets that you can pair with your daily outfits without getting annoying stares.
As for the suits the prominent western styled ones include smile pockets with a half belt at the rear and pipings that look similar to the western shirts. Singers like Johnny cash and Elvis Presley were great fans of this style of suits and have a great hand at their popularity. Some of the famous styles of western wear are characterized by the rhinestone decorations and elaborate embroidery that is widely seen in the custom works of the rodeo tailors. Also these styles were greatly popularized by the country music performers who still have a great fan following.
One of the major reasons that the western styles had such a great popularity is that they were both amassed by men and women alike. The leather soon entered the western style but adopted them into accessories like belted coat, boots and gloves since they had little use of them as clothing. All the styles that they incorporated into the western style were usually practical ones and rarely anything with only fashion reasons. The women in the era were also majorly involved in the ranching works and spent most of their times there. This meant that they adopted the clothing style of the men who worked there while in other parts of Europe Victorian clothing was having its high time. It is also said that the cowgirls as they are called in the Wild West had good riding and roping skills. The marksmanship of these women were even rivalled by their men.
Even now these western styles have a great following and have been in style for a long time since their era. Though the styles have changed little they still have that western aura and tradition to it which makes them a desired commodity.
