Suits have been reigning the formal menswear for a long time now. Though many vouch year by year that the time of suits are over they emerge again. The suits have become a staple in every man's wardrobe but sadly most men do not branch out with their choices even if there are many available. For example when shopping for suits most of us would naturally choose the single breasted suits since they are easier to style and also are the most versatile. But it would do you good to sometimes stray away from the usuals and try something that is new. In this article we discuss the double breasted suits and how you can seamlessly include them into your dailywear.
The mens suit have been in use for a long time and are considered to be more formal and classy than the single breasted suits. They have passed through many levels of fashion dressers all through these years. The notorious buttoned up style was popular among the mafias and cocky traders. Double breasted suit style first started out as a casual style but it has now reached the level of the business attire.
The design of the sporting jackets in the 19th century is considered to be the muse of the double breasted suit jackets that we have now. This was also called the reefer jacket at that time and was mostly used for casual occasions. But when the then Duke of Windsor started favouring the style it soon became popular among all men. By the 1930s and 1940s the double breasted suit design became famous among the mafias and the crime kingpins. Later the double breasted suit pinstripe became the trademark look of the bankers.
If you are thinking of trying out the double breasted suit style then we have some tips for you. The first one is to go with custom made double breasted suits if possible. The elegance of the double breasted suits lies in the perfect fit and thus it would be better to go with the custom made double breasted suits mens. But the details on the double breasted suits are many and thus the cost involved might become too high for some. If you are on a budget that does not allow to go with custom made ones then you can move towards off the rack suits.
You should select the fit of the double breasted suits that suits you body type the best. If you are a tall and lean person then you should try going with the slimfit suits. But if you want a fit that you can style for both formal and casual occasions then you can choose to go with double breasted suit regularfit. The double breasted suits should fit you in a proper way but if you want a more comfortable style then you can try going with double breasted suit classicfit. While choosing the double breasted suits it would be best for you to try it on, check whether it fits you properly and then purchase it. But if you are purchasing double breasted suits online then you should get your measurements from a tailor and then match it with the size chart to find the one fit that will fit you the best.
Other than this the lapels on the double breasted suits are another thing to note. As mentioned before double breasted suits are considered to be more formal than the single breasted styles and thus it would be best to stick with the peak lapels. Double breasted suits with notch lapels was experimented by the fashion designers but it was not good a match. The peak lapels easily accentuate the wearer's shoulders and thus give you an authoritative look.
There are two sets of buttons in the double breasted suits and this distinguishes the style most from the single breasted suits. The thing with mens suit is that you will have to fasten every button on the suit except the last one. This keeps the lines of the suit interesting and would provide you with an impressive look.
The double breasted suits have an unique look which makes them easily noticeable. Thus if you are going with the double breasted suits it would be best to keep it simple. But if you are bored with the usual look and would want to try something new then you should try going with the double breasted suit pattern like the pinstripes and the chalk stripes.
As for the events where you can style the double breasted suits it would be best to start with the special occasions. Double breasted suits does look great as workwear but would make you stand out too much which is not desirable in the workspace. Thus when it comes to work restrict the double breasted suits for the work dinner events and some important meetings.
Weddings are one of the events where the double breasted suits would score a great deal. For a double breasted suit groom attire you can choose to style the midnight blue double breasted suit with a white dress shirt and a matching tie. To complete the look you can add with the outfit a pair of black leather Oxford shoes. If you consider the full double breasted suit look to be too much then you can try going with separates.
For example you can choose to style the Burgundy double breasted suit jacket with a white dress shirt, black tie and a pair of black dress pants. For a simple yet elegant three piece suit style you can choose to style the single breasted suit jacket with a mens vest and a pair of dress pants. This contrast of the single breasted jacket with double breasted vest would offer a cool look. Other than this you can check out your options in double breasted suits sales and you can make your pick depending on your need.
