When you attend the office style the mens sport coat with a dress shirt and a tie and for casual events you can lose the tie and even change into a tshirt while retaining the sport coat. The full suit always have the habit of attracting attention giving you the look of businessman even while you attend a casual event. But when it comes to sport coat you won’t have that problem since the coats are less conservative and more flexible.
Formal sport coats are a great choice if you are looking for the businesses casual garments. Most of the workplaces now have relaxed dress codes but it is still not appropriate to show up in jeans and t-shirts. Full suits might make you look overdressed and again the mens coats becomes the perfect pick in that case. While most of the times the sport coat with trousers and a dress shirt passes as a good suit it still does not look serious and intimidating like the full suit. You can style the sport coat with a Oxford button down shirt and a tie thus putting together a perfect middle of the road outfit.
When it comes to mens coats you have the option of easily dressing them up or down depending on your need which might not be the case with the suit jackets and the blazers. The construction of the men’s coats in itself is casual when compared with the other two. The sport coats come with soft shoulders and shoulder padding and lining is mostly avoided or limited. Thus you will always have the option of dressing down the garment without much effort.
As for the materials from which the sport coats are made from it greatly influences the look of the garment. When you need a formal garment then you can go with the wool coats. When you need a summer sport coat then you will have to go with lighter materials. Cotton coats are a good choice for a formal look while the linen coats are the best for casual use. When it comes to blazers or the suit jackets most of it are made from worsted wool which gives the garment a softer texture. This difference in the texture makes the blazers and suit jackets more formal than the coats. As for the durability the sport coats are much more durable than the blazers and suit jacket since they have a rougher build. When the pants of the suit wear out it will be hard to style the suit jacket with other pants since they are designed to be worn with the marching suit pants. You will have to purchase the same type of suit pants or leave out wearing the suit jacket too. But this is not the case with coats. Since you have the option of styling it with different pants you can use them longer than the jacket of the suits. The jacket also wears out near the elbows and when it happens the suit jacket cannot be used while you will have the option of getting elbow patches on the coats. The addition of elbow patches on the coats will give the garment a vintage look.
The details on the coats greatly influence the look of the garment and thus you will have to carefully decide on the details. Single breasted coats are the most versatile ones since you can style them as both formal and casual styles. The 2 button coats are the ones that are most common in the single breasted styles of the coats. Other than this you will also have the option of going with the single button coats or the 3 button coats. The double breasted sport coats come with two rows of buttons opposed to the single row of buttons in the single breasted styles. The double breasted coats are considered to be a dressier style when compared with the single breasted coats.
There are different styles in the coats and you can choose the one that will be best for you. The shooting coats were originally designed to wear during the hunting and this design is still available. These coats come with belts at the waists which are best for carrying gloves and scarfs. For a classic coats style we would recommend you to go with the plaid coats that come with tonal checks. These classic coats are best for semi formal and casual events.
As for styling the coats there are a lot of ways since it is a versatile style. Here are some ideas that we think might help you in the process. For a formal look you can pair any conventional colored sport coat with a white shirt, well pressed trousers and a dark colored tie.
